The addition to the Met Cloisters is a gallery extension, providing space for contemporary art and critique.
The building is characterized by the roof which interacts with the ground to create both walls and structural columns. The voids created by the geometry are defined by glass walls and used as public space.
The geometry is created by folded components that create a diamond grid in plan. This diamond grid was extended to the landscape and the underground spaces, connecting the separate above-ground spaces and linking the building to the environment.
